Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) have an altered body composition, with depletion of muscle mass and excess fat, contributing to worsening nutritional status and clinical status. Thus, there is a need for adequate and easily applicable methods to the clinical routine for nutritional screening of these patients, allowing the implementation of an early and resolute intervention. In this context, the overall subjective evaluation produced by the patient (ASG-PPP) has been highlighted. Therefore, the objective of the present study is to evaluate the ability of ASG-PPP to detect impairment of nutritional status and body composition when applied in patients with CKD. 240 volunteers will be evaluated subdivided equally in each of the groups stratified by the type of treatment: conservative, peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis and renal transplantation. They will be used as methods to evaluate body composition and nutritional status: dual-emission X-ray absorptiometry, phase angle by multifrequency bioimpedance by spectroscopy, calf circumference, palmar grip strength and thumb adductor muscle thickness. The values will be presented in mean and standard deviation. The kappa correlation coefficient will be used for concordance analysis and the Pearson correlation coefficient for the correlation evaluations (p <0.05).
