Abstract

The objective of this research is to apply the Mathematical Anxiety assessment Scale (MAS) in its translated version to Libras (GIAMLOURENÇO; SANTOS, in progress) in a sample from the State of São Paulo and to perform the collection by balancing the data through different aspects in order to collaborate for adjustments in the instrument and to compose part of the sample. Considering the importance of understanding Mathematics Anxiety and how it occurs in the population (CARMO; SIMIONATO, 2012) and, in addition, the need to rethink the deaf subject in this perspective (VIANA; BARRETO, 2012), we intend to carry out a pilot collection study intending to verify, at the beginning, possible difficulties and adjustments in the instrument or in the form of its application, then perform the collection, seeking to identify the levels of Mathematical Anxiety in deaf subjects in the State of São Paulo, to verify if the MAS and its form of application are adequate and to analyze the data obtained in comparison to the sample data of the population in general. It is hoped that this work can collaborate with current research on the subject of Mathematics Anxiety, also contributing to its approximation to the deaf student.
