Abstract

The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) is classified like an invasive upset of the development that causes serious difficulties along the life considering the social and communicative skills, attributed to delay of the development. Due to the increased use of Virtual Reality (VR) to improve motor function, it is important to develop projects that verify if there is transfer of performance between virtual and real environments. The main objective of this project is to verify if using a more abstract interaction devices (without physical touch) allow better performance in the task when compared to more concrete devices (with physical touch). Thus, 20 people, aged between 7 and 16 years old with medical diagnosis of ASD will be evaluated performing a coincident timing tasks through two interaction devices: (1) in abstract environments (without physical touch) using Webcam as an interaction device and (2) concrete environment (with physical touch) using Touch Screen device. The results of this research will assist the development of rehabilitation programs for people with ASD using technological advances, not only as a facilitator of task execution, but also as an instrument that enables functional improvements for real day to day tasks.
