Abstract

Population aging is an increasing number of studies evaluating chronic-degenerative diseases and their interference in the ability to perform Daily Life Activities. Parkinson's disease is an example of pathology whose symptoms may aggravate the quality of performance in this activities, mainly regarding deficits in manual dexterity. As for manual dexterity and interaction with clothing products, it can be seen that until then, research does not deepen the possible correlations between variables involved in the manipulation process - associated with the perception of effort, pleasantness, discomfort and grip generated in the act of dressing-undressing by people with Parkinson. Therefore, the aim of the study is to investigate whether low manual dexterity and involuntary movements allied to variables involved in manipulation process influence the usability of clothing products during the act of dressing-undressing, based on simulated evaluations of use by parkinsonian individuals. These evaluations provide for the basis of discussions and clarifications on the influence of physical and sensory-motor restrictions that may influence the perception of usability and the dress-undressing action of the clothing, thus, establishing more reliable parameters for the ergonomic design and for this group of users.
