Abstract

To analyze the relationship of health indicators at birth with adiposity and metabolic and cardiovascular parameters of adolescents, as well as, to identify if this possible impact of low birth weight is attenuated by physical activity. Methods: This cross-sectional study will be carried out in the city of Presidente Prudente, Brazil. The sample will be composed of adolescents who agree with the following inclusion criteria: i) age between 11 and 16 years; ii) do not present any clinical or metabolic disorder (previously diagnosed) that may influence the practice of habitual physical activity; iii) the legal guardian signs the free and informed consent term. Study variables: dependents (lipid profile, glucose, insulin resistance, adiposity and medial-intima thickness); Independent (birth weight [kg] and other birth parameters reported by the mother or legal guardian); Mmdiation (physical activity measured by accelerometer); covariates (age, sex, biological maturation and eating habits). Multivariate models will be created using structural equation modeling and measures of effect-size will be expressed as standardized coefficients (statistical significance < 0.05). Expected results: It is expected to identify not only the possible effects of health indicators at birth on metabolic, cardiovascular and adiposity variables among adolescents, but also the possible attenuating role of physical activity in such process.
