Abstract

The population growth in urban environments has been causing pressure on their capacity to support them. The need for spatial planning, in the search for a management model and sustainable housing, prioritizing the improvement of the quality of life arises. An important space in planning is the green areas, which have 70% of the composition by vegetation and are accessible to the population, not benefiting any social class. It is recommended by the Brazilian Society of Urban Arborization a total of 15m2 of green area per inhabitant. In Piracicaba - SP, the city announces a high amount of green areas, however it takes into account grassy areas, which can lead to divergences between the advertised and the ideal. As well, there is a relationship between quality of life, socioeconomic level, income of the population and vegetation cover in the municipalities. Thus, the objective of this work is to use environmental, social and economic indicators to map the priority areas for green areas in the urban area of the city of Piracicaba, in a GIS platform - comparing public opinion with expert opinion . At the end two maps will be elaborated, each considering the opinion of a group interviewed and the overlap of both will be done for comparison. It also seeks to compare opinions with existing green areas in the municipality, thus understanding the effectiveness of their implementation.
