Abstract

Aerobic and respiratory exercises have been used independently for non-pharmacological treatment of asthmatic patients, but the association of the two treatments were not tested for anxiety disorders, depression and sleep disorders. Objective: evaluate the association of aerobic exercises with respiratory exercise for anxiety disorders, depression and sleep disorders. Methods: Asthmatic adults randomly divided into 2 groups: aerobic + sham (GP) and aerobic + respiratory (GI) will be studied. The training program will last three months (will be held for 20 sessions, twice a week, lasting 70 minutes each session). Before and after this clinical intervention, anxiety and depression levels of all patients will be evaluated by HADS (hospital anxiety and depression scale), the sleep quality by Pittsburgh Quality of Sleep Index (PQSI - BR), the clinical control for asthma by ACQ (Asthma control questionnaire) and the aerobic exercise level by Actlife® software. Also, we'll evaluate theirs pulmonary function with spirometry test. Statistical Analysis: A comparison between before and after protocol, and between groups (GP and GI) will be performed through a cloud diagram and boxplot comparison, performed by Sigma Stat Program.
