Perceptions of users and family: rehabilitation in visual impairments

Abstract

Introduction: It is believed that the family in the care of the visually impaired child needs the professional assistance, including clear explanations about the functioning of the health network and all the processes involving the rehabilitation professionals, aiming at favoring a more balanced environment for the parents and the confidence during follow-up therapy. The active and attentive listening to what the family and user, amplifies the results of the offered care, favoring a better quality of life and the greater degree of autonomy possible to the person with the disability. Objective: To verify the perceptions of visually impaired users and their families about the rehabilitation process. Method: This is qualitative research. For data collection will be carried out the selection of the reports that allow to meet the objective proposed in a corpus of research already constituted by semi-structured interviews carried out with visually impaired users and their family members of the rehabilitation service reference of the studied municipality. The mentioned municipality is located in the metropolitan region of Campinas - SP and was selected according to criterion of convenience and viability. Content analysis will be performed. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Unicamp and the participants signed an Informed Consent Term.
