Abstract

This research project aims at to take advantage of the chemical reaction between iodine and thiosulphate to increase the current associated with the anodic oxidation of iodide. Experiments will be carried out using scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) and the idea is to control the separation between a microelectrode and the substrate in micrometric scale, ie, it is possible to generate a thin layer cell in which the catalytic reaction will take place. Under optimized conditions of this electrocatalytic process, the analytical method is expected to be adequate to determine the concentration of iodide in urine samples. (AU)
