Abstract

The three phase induction motors (TIMs) energy consumption corresponds to a large slice of electric demand in the industrial scenario, this is due its massive application for electrical driving. Given its highly operational role, it is highly recommended an appropriate maintenance plan for these devices. The most promising techniques to accomplish this goal are the non-destructive techniques (NDT) for failure detection in electrical machines. These methods allow a premature evaluation and can predict anomalies in their first symptoms, reducing the damages to the machines and production line. The vibration analysis is an NDT which associates the vibratory patterns of the electric machines with known damages in electrical machines. Looking for alternatives approaches of accessible sensors and innovative signal processing techniques that provide greater security and reliability for the diagnoses, this research project of scientific initiation seeks the application of low cost non-invasive piezoelectric sensors and signal processing techniques for the vibration analysis aiming to identify stator winding failures in MITs.
