Abstract

The present research project will have the aim to verify the performance of the handwriting speed, in view of legibility, of students with dyslexia in the visual, mixed and phonological subtypes and compare with the performance of students with good academic performance. The translated and adapted version of the Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DASH), composed of 5 tasks, namely: Best copy, Alphabet writing, Quick copy of a sentence, Quick graphic and Free thematic writing will be applied. Will participate in this research 60 schoolchildren, of both genders and in the age group from 09 years to 16 years and 11 months of age, divided into four groups, such as: GI: 10 students with dyslexia of the phonological subtype, GII: 10 school children with visual subtype dyslexia, GIII: 10 schoolchildren with mixed subtype dyslexia and GIV: 30 students with good academic performance. the students with a diagnosis of dyslexia will come of Specialized Center in Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences of the São Paulo State University - CER/FFC/UNESP-Marília-SP (Brazil), while students with good academic performance will be selected from a database of previously collected writing samples, which should be matched according to gender and age of students with dyslexia. After applying the procedure will be analyzed statistically the scores found in each of the tasks proposed for each group studied, to then characterize and compare the groups regarding the speed of handwriting.
