Abstract This project aims to study the synthesis and characterization of polyesters based on Panthenol via chemical catalysis. The polycondensation reactions will be performed in bulk with a series of diesters, anhydrides and diacids as comonomers, varying their chain length between 8 to 14 carbons, using Tin (II) 2-ethylhexanoate as chemical catalysis. The kinetic study of the reaction will be made through direct reaction with monomers derivaties. The study will apply a factorial design to optimize the conditions of polymerization with a diester. Such process will include the alteration of two independent variables of the reaction: Time of the second step of the reaction (under vacuum) and Reaction temperature. Such conditions will be differentiated in three levels, resulting in a total of nine reactions needed to optimize the said reaction. The optimization aims to enhance the control over the molecular mass of the synthesized polymers and obtain more control over the reaction yield. | |
