Abstract

The project aims to investigate how the linguistic tradition in two distinct countries - Russia and Brazil - oriented the translation of Saussure's texts by means of comparative analysis of chapters from Cours de Linguistique Génerale in the Russian and Portuguese translations. In order to do that, it will be searched signification and accentuation traces (in Bakhtinian terms) built in each translation that can tell a lot about the interpretative operation of the one who translated it. The analysis will be founded mainly by Bakhtinian and thinkers of the Circle's linguistic theories, considering the following aspects for analyzing: the social horizon of those texts, the historical context, the "translator-speaker" and "reader-listener" aperceptive mass. Our hypothesis is that Saussure' status and eminence that represented and still represent, as well as the differences between the linguistic traditions in each of those cultures/languages will be conspicous in the translations made in very different social and temporal contexts.
