Abstract

The history of landslides in Brazil shows a scenario that is exacerbated by the precarious characteristics of urbanization in the country. Faced with this reality was sanctioned the National Policy for Protection and Civil Defense (Law 12,608 / 12), outlining guidelines and instruments for risk management. Thus, from the methodological proposal elaborated by the Ministry of Cities in partnership with the IPT, many mappings of risk areas were elaborated that have given support to the Municipal Plans of Reduction of Risks. The municipality of São Bernardo do Campo is one of 821 municipalities registered as susceptible to high impact disasters, requiring mapping tools such as the Geotechnical Map for Urban Planning and the Municipal Plan for Risk Reduction. The Alvarenga Basin corresponds to one of the expansion areas of the municipality, with a direct impact on the Billings reservoir, and 21 risk areas identified in 2009. Thus, this research project intends to update the risk mapping for two critical areas affected by landslides in the Alvarenga Basin, applying the methodology of the Ministry of Cities (2007) and CPRM (2017) improving the results with the indication of proposals for interventions to solve the problems.
