Abstract

Patrimony and memory are pillars of the concept of identity and belonging of individuals, be it in relation to the nation or the places of occupation. These spaces in general are created on the basis of an excluding narrative, where the victors (in the case of the classes that hold power) overlap the losers (the classes that do not hold power) and the places created by and for the elite are recognized as elements worthy of official safeguard. But it is not this point of view that will be debated in this research; this research seeks to understand and understand the patrimony incorporating by the classes that do not have power, from an occupation occurred in a Farm and later transformed into Agrarian Reform Settlement, the social actors involved therein appropriated structures and existing buildings and alter and add uses. All this process takes place in a rich backdrop of the region usually denominated as Pontal do Paranapanema, in the west of São Paulo, a stage of intense conflicts of struggle for land.
