Abstract

Considering that the master's project approved by FAPESP has the objective of identifying how the initiatives that seek to face the situation of prison overcrowding have been conceived and implemented, this project of research internship abroad intends to advance in the construction of a theoretical framework that analysis and discussion of the data produced so far. In particular, this project seeks to develop a theoretical framework to understand the dynamics of the operation and interaction between Executive and Judiciary, in cases of interdiction of prison units in the cities of Goiânia and Aparecida de Goiânia, in the state of Goiás. Therefore, the contact with the theoretical framework of Professor Raffaele De Giorgi, linked to the Centro di Studio Sul Rischio, at the Università del Salento, can contribute greatly to the analysis and interpretation of the empirical material, allowing the construction of categories of observation to help in the understanding of the positions and arguments adopted by both the actors of the judiciary and actors of the prison administration who participate in the case under analysis. This project will enable the continuity and deepening of the master's research that uses a methodological strategy of the case study developed based on a documentary research and interviews with actors involved in the actions of interdiction of overcrowded prisons. In addition, the exchange will facilitate access to judicial initiatives to contain prison overpopulation in Italy, allowing the observation of the strategies adopted by Italy to deal with the situation.
