Abstract This project aims to analyze the coffee and sugar economy in the French colony of Saint-Domingue between 1790 and 1803, in other words, during the Haitian Revolution. The impact of the wars between slaves, revolutionary French troops, British and Spanish armed forces during the 13 years of incontinent battles, as well as the general slave abolition of 1794, profoundly transformed the productive dynamics in the colony, despite the efforts of the revolutionary black leaders in recovering the plantation system. This investigation is the continuation of a previous research, in which we explored the Recensements des biens domaniaux et urbains produced between 1795 and 1803. It is now intended to deepen the data found by reading contemporary accounts of the event, the notarial archives and the legislation promulgated during the revolution to try to better understand the progress of the plantation system in the midst of the slave revolution.
