The present study will evaluate the effect of activated charcoal-containing dentifrices on erosive tooth wear of bovine enamel and dentin. For this, 90 fragments of each substrate (4mm × 4mm × 2mm) obtained from bovine incisors will be used. The slabs will be ground flat, polished and subjected to a reading of their surface profile, using an optical profilometer. The specimens will then be randomly distributed in 9 experimental groups (n=10 for each substrate): 1. Negative control; 2. Oralgen Nupearl Advanced; 3. Curaprox Black is White; 4. Suavetex Natural; 5. Claybrite Activated Charcoal; 6. Bianco Carbon; 7. Twin Lotus Activated Charcoal; 8. Colgate Natural Extracts Charcoal; 9. Colgate Total 12 (control without activated charcoal). Afterwards, they will undergo an erosion-abrasion cycling, consisting of 5 min of immersion in 1% citric acid solution, followed by immersion in artificial saliva for 60 min, 4 times a day. Brushing will be performed in a brushing machine, with soft brushes and a suspension of toothpaste and artificial saliva, in a ratio of 1: 3, 2 times a day. This procedure will be repeated for 5 days. After cycling, the specimens will be analyzed for surface loss (in ¼m) in the optical profilometer. The data obtained will be statistically analyzed, considering a level of significance of 5%.
