Abstract

The sports turfgrass market has had a great economic leap in Brazil, with Tifton 419 hybrid bermudagrass great highlight, due to its ideal characteristics for sports fields. However, turfgrass areas need fertilization and irrigation managements adequate for their development and to provide a good practice of the sport, being necessary surveys that indicate the correct dose of N to be used, and the adequate irrigation turn. Thus, the objective of the work will be to obtain technical recommendations for water management and for nitrogen fertilization in order to improve the development of Brazilian sports fields installed with Tifton 419. The experimental design will be in randomized blocks in a factorial scheme (2x5), with two irrigation management and five nitrogen doses, with 4 replications. Each plot will be 5.0 x 5.0 m, with 1.0 m of border. Irrigation managements will be differentiated by frequency (daily frequency, replacing the evapotranspirated slide of the previous day, and irrigated every two days, replacing the sum of the evapotranspiration of the previous two days). For the N doses (ammonium sulfate source), a reference dose (562.5 kg N ha-1 year-1) was defined, thus the treatments will be respectively: 0; 281.25; 421.88; 703.13 and 843.75 kg N ha-1 year-1 respectively. The evaluations will be: chemical and physical soil analysis; soil solution analysis; chlorophyll content of leaves; dry leaf mass; height of turfgrass; leaf chemical analysis of chips; enzymatic analysis of leaves; lawn recovery rate; root length and dry mass of roots, stolons and rhizome; mechanical resistance to penetration; index of green color; digital image analysis; light reflectance meter; resistance of turfgrass to traction; speed of ball bearing in the field and ball rebound.
