Abstract

The impact caused by the numerous religious conflicts in the German in territories during the seventeenth century led to a radical change in the musical thought of the time. This paper proposes to investigate how the Counter-Reformation influenced the musical life in the Catholic Germanic States between 1648 (end of the Thirty Years War) and 1705(year of the death of Leopoldo I, Emperor of the Holy Roman-Germanic Empire).
