Abstract

Objectives: I, evaluate the psychometric properties of the Academic Experience Satisfaction Scale when applied to Pharmacy students; II, estimate student satisfaction with academic experience; and III, estimate the impact of student engagement and burnout syndrome on satisfaction with academic experience. Methods: This is an observational study with a non-probability sampling design. Students enrolled in the undergraduate pharmacy program of a public educational institution in the state of São Paulo will be invited to participate. The minimum sample size was estimated at 240. Data to be collected include gender, age, term of the program, program format (full-time or night classes), work activity during studies (no or yes), and economic level. To estimate academic satisfaction, the Academic Experience Satisfaction Scale (ESEA) will be used. Burnout syndrome will be assessed using the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI-S). Student engagement will be estimated using the University Student Engagement Inventory (USEI). The psychometric properties of the instruments, adjusted for sample characteristics, will be estimated by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using the c2/df, CFI, TLI, and RMSEA indices. Convergent and discriminant validity and reliability will be estimated. A structural equation model will be developed to verify the impact of student engagement and burnout syndrome on satisfaction with academic experience. The possible causal relationships (²) will be evaluated. (AU)
