Abstract

This project aims to analyze the Corrupio Publishing House that launched itself in the Brazilian publishing market with Pierre Vergers book, Retratos da Bahia (1979). Under the majority of womens administration over its 40 years, Corrupio has been publishing books that focus on "black cultures and African diaspora". Arlete Soares, Rina Angulo, Cida Nóbrega and Sara Silveira, as well as their first author, met in Paris. These meetings have as intermediaries other figures who had crossings on both sides of the Atlantic, such as the writer Jorge Amado and the French sociologist Roger Bastide. The formation of the publisher was also attended by members of ZAZ, Salvador's photography group. Many of these members would become part of Corrupio. In order to contribute to the history of editorial practices, I intend to articulate biographical elements of the founders of Corrupio to the circulation of ideas that permeated its formation and consolidation, between the 1970s and 1980s. Through interviews with the characters that are part of Its history and with the help of the ethnography of the archive constituted by its publishers, I intend to revisit the political, social and cultural contexts of Salvador, and to reconstruct the transits of Brazilians between this city and Paris.
