Abstract

Individuals of the species Rhipicephalus sanguineus lato sensu (SS) are popularly known as "dog tick" and has become of great importance in the academic field by the fact that this ectoparasite pathogen vector. It is known that the indiscriminate use of synthetic acaricides causes environmental damage, besides causing a selection of resistant tick populations. In this sense, the search for alternative and natural methods that provide effective control by formulated acaricides from bioactives extracted from plants has intensified, case of the native species Viscous egletes (macela) that have already been shown potential antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, analgesic and sedative actions in the literature. However, besides finding a bioactive that is effective in controlling the ectoparasite, in this case the dog tick which in the present proposal will have evaluated the dynamics of ovarian development, as this is the part that will generate new individuals, also be non-toxic to hosts (considered non-target organisms), which will be evaluated here by means of the hepatic morphophysiology of Mus musculus mice sprayed with macela oil. Thus, generally, this study aims to obtain results that will, in the future, contribute to the studies of control of ectoparasites that bring numerous economic, sanitary and public health losses.
