Abstract

Burnout syndrome is recently growing in the family environment and leading into parents' physical and emotional exhaustion, which may affect the relationship between parents and their children. Without family's support, children may have behavior problems and grow a few behavior socially skilled, besides the chance of a desmotivation to go to school and lower grades in school. The present study aims to describe parental burnout from parents whose children are in the secondary school (Ensino Fundamental II in Brazilian definition), and its associations with children's school performance, school frequency and social skills. The study will be a quantitative, descriptive, correlational and crosscutter one. Will be part of the study parents and teachers from secondary school's children. The participants will answer the instruments Inventário de Burnout Parental, Social Skills Rating System (SSRS-BR) and Critério Brasil. The statistical analysis will be made with the software Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS, 20th version). By the end of the study, the intention is to understand correlations between variables and to think of possible future interventions that will interfere in parents and children's mental health and in children's positive school performance.
