Abstract

The master's project is a collective effort of the team researchers at the Center for Studies about Work, Environment and Health at the São Paulo State University, city Presidente Prudente, Sao Paulo, Brazil with purpose to understand the systemic degradation of work, the heath impact on workers and the environment resulting the expansion of sugarcane hydroagricultural business at Pontal do Paranapanema region. Due to the expansion and consolidation of the hydroagricultural business Capital in this region, many families who lives on countryside at agrarian reform settlements suffer with direct impact of sugarcane cultivation. Spraying, in addition to reaching the target (plants and pests), also affects air / soil / water, wild and domestic animals, humans, and the surrounding vegetation. The project arose of the necessity to understand this process of destructiveness at the school in these rural settlements, because these schools have emerged through this social class, especially coordinated by the Landless Workers' Movement . The aim is also to evaluate the empowerment in the local population and alternatives who promote life and heath.This is why the project is related to a participatory surveillance, involving students and other community members schools.
