Abstract

The focus of this project lies in the systematic study of the synthesis procedures of nanomaterials formed by Au/Pd anisotropic metal nanoparticles (thus combining the plasmonic properties of Au to the catalytic properties of Pd) immobilized on different supports targeting specific applications such as catalytic and SERS-active materials. Different routes will be evaluated for the chemical functionalization of the substrates (carbon nanomaterials, silica or titania) for the covalent and/or electrostatic bonding of the different metal nanostructures, aiming at the formation stable and functional of hybrid nanostructures. The composites will be characterized by techniques of vibrational spectroscopy (Raman and infrared) and transmission and scanning electron microscopy techniques, and their performance in catalytic and photocatalytic processes will be evaluated. Among the reactions to be investigated, we emphasize the process of CO2 photoreduction. (AU)
