The post-doctoral researcher will join the ELIOT team to contribute in the study of signal processing techniques for beamforming and coding schemes in IoT communication systems, as described in the full ELIOT research plans submitted to Fapesp. In particular, the signal processing algorithms for beamforming that will be developed will contemplate the necessities of IoT networks and transmission links from the access point to the devices (downlink) and the transmission links from the devices to the access point (uplink). In the first three years, the researcher will study beamforming techniques for reception and transmission, including new signal processing approaches for obtaining the beamforming parameters, robust techniques to deal with channel and measurement uncertainties, proposing energy-efficient methods for dealing with coarsely-quantized signals, as well as adaptive algorithms. In the fourth year, the research will be directed towards the integration of the beamforming algorithms with coding schemes and the development of coding schemes that are adequate to IoT systems, particularly channel coding schemes using Low-Density Parity-Check codes (LDPC) and message-passing algorithms for decoding.
