Abstract

Aquatic environment changes due to anthropic actions, such as the discharge of industrial, domestic and rural effluents containing toxic substances, can trigger negative effects on local biodiversity, interfering with the physiological processes of animals. Among these pollutants, we can highlight the plasticizers, such as Bisphenol A (BPA), which can intervene in metabolism, immune response, reproduction and at the cellular level in animals. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to evaluate the mode of action of BPA on parameters of the thyroid and reproductive axis by in vitro assays, using as a model a species of fish native to the Rio de la Plata basin, Cichlasoma dimerus. For this, the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, and gonads of the C. dimerus will be cultured in the presence and absence of BPA, Thyroxine (T4) and/or antagonist TR. Also, the expression of reproductive axis genes will be measured and the hormones T3, T4, testosterone, and estradiol will be quantified.
