Abstract The following research builds itself towards the realization of an etnography of Mays' Mothers Movement, located at Baixada Santista in the state of São Paulo, region where this movement was founded, after the crimes of May 2006. In this attempt, I will engage in a participant observation as a supporter of the Movement, traveling through its networks of sociability, meetings, activities, mobilizations, articulations and confrontations, trying to describe and analyze the particularities of the Mothers of May. I will take as a starting point for the conceptual investigation the native categories expressed in the motto of the Movement, from mourning to struggle, which open the way for the observation of other categories and social webs of the Mothers, which will be accompanied analytically by some theoretical contributions of anthropology of politics, parentage, anthropology of death and urban anthropology, among others. It is hoped that this research will achieve an internal understanding of the modes of existence, perceptions, actions, discourses and relations of this important movement in the national scenario, contributing to the development of the anthropological studies of the conflict.
