Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to analyze the differences and similarities between the responses of people living in São Paulo and Barcelona towards the Affections Apprehension Instrument developed by Brazilian researcher Zulmira Bomfim. This investigation is linked to the Scientific Initiation project (IC) Building and affectivity: proposing a methodolog y, which intends to adapt the Affections Apprehension Instrument to the scale of buildings, since the original instrument was created to meet the scale of the city. The original instrument is composed of a drawing and a questionnaire, which allow us to investigate the participant's affections for places. That questionnaire was created from a pre-test. The present study will apply the same pre-test in Barcelona to compare it with data already collected in São Paulo, repeating, in a different scale, the procedures adopted by Bomfim. Thus, we intend to make the final instrument produced by our Scientific Initiation project more accurate and polished. In the end, this research will result in articles and presentations delivered at undergraduate courses at the Universities of São Paulo and Barcelona. (AU)
