Abstract

The cleft lip and palate is the most frequent orofacial congenital anomaly, with a worldwide prevalence of 1.53 per 1,000 live births. The choice of rehabilitative treatment is directly associated with anatomical and functional severities determined by malformation. In particular, the oral rehabilitation in cases of absence of the upper lateral incisors is challenging, mainly because it is an aesthetic region. For these regions the treatment the most indicated treatment is the installation of fixed partial dentures or osseointegrated implants, however there is no consensus in the literature about which rehabilitation technique would be able to offer better results. Therefore, the objective of this project will be perform a systematic review to evaluate survival rate, aesthetic satisfaction, improvement of quality of life and other aspects in cleft palate patients who had a treatment with fixed prosthesis rehabilitation or osseointegrated implants. This project is going to use the PRISMA protocol and will be registered in the PROSPERO database. A detailed search at the main database (PubMed, SciELO, Cochrane) will be performed for articles published until June 2020. The software Sigma Plot 12.0, Comprehensive Meta-analysis, and Review Manager 5 (RevMan 5) will be used, as well as the Microsoft Excel program for the purpose of performing the meta-analysis. It will be considered a significance value of 0.05. Based on the researched studies, the objective is to establish a clinical direction to understand which treatment is most appropriate and to know for which type of cleft patient, would be best indicated a fixed partial denture and the best circumstances for the correct indication of dental implant in cleft jaw region.
