Abstract

This project aims to develop molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) by electropolymerization for the development of portable sensors for the analysis of relevant compounds, namely penicillin. Penicillin is one of the most important medications in the basic health care system. Its determination is important because, as it is eliminated by urine, it causes changes in the terrestrial and water ecosystem. In addition, studies have also revealed the presence of this antibiotic in human foods such as meat and milk from penicillin-treated animals. Molecular imprinting is recognized as one of the fastest (particularly by electropolymerization) and powerful methods for creating synthetic receptors because it has a strong affinity for a diverse selection of analyses yet remaining selective.
