Abstract

According to the World Health Organization, 9.3% of the Brazilian population has anxiety disorders. Studies have shown an association between anxiety and sleep, but, depending on the anxiety disorder, such associations are still misunderstood, sometimes with controversial results. Therefore, further studies are needed to verify the relationship between sleep and anxiety disorders. This study aims to evaluate the sleep quality of participants of the Epidemiological Study of Sleep in São Paulo (EPISONO) who presented anxiety symptoms. The results could bring greater understanding of sleep disorders and their relationship with anxiety disorders. This clarity is essential in proposing alternative, non-medicated treatments to improve sleep quality and wellbeing of those affected. (AU)
