Abstract

The increase on EV adoption leads to the growth of the demand in the distribution network. A simultaneous charge of a large number of EVs can result in overloads and voltage values below the limits set by regulators. Thereby is necessary to implement a coordinated EV charging scheme to maintain proper system operation. On the other hand, energy storage systems (ESSs) allows the injection/extraction of energy into the grid; along with proper control, they can be used to mitigate overloads and intermittence of renewable energy generation. A linear programming model that allows the definition of the coordinated charging of EVs in a grid with energy storage systems will be developed. The proposed formulation aims to minimize the loading time and satisfy the operating restrictions of the grid. The model will be written in the mathematical modeling language AMPL and solved using CPLEX. Tests using specialized literature distribution networks will be performed to verify the performance of the proposal. (AU)
