Abstract

Virtual reality (VR) has begun to be used as a tool for assessment and intervention in rehabilitation for people with disabilities. One of the capabilities that can be evaluated through VR is Coincident Time (TC), which is the perceptual-motor ability to execute a motor response in synchrony with the arrival of an external object. People with DV need this synchronization of movements with external objects in their daily life activities and crossing a street, as well as in leisure activities and sports practice. The objective of the present study is to investigate the performance of individuals with DV in a coincident RV time task. Participants of this study were 40 individuals, 20 people with DV and 20 sighted people of both sexes over 18 years of age. The study will be conducted in a blind institution and a university, both located in a city in the interior of São Paulo. A semi-structured interview and an analysis of functionality and independence will be employed through the Katz Index scale and a TC Task. The materials to be used will be a notebook and a TC Task Software. The dependent variable to be used will be the time error. The results of this research will assist in the development of rehabilitation programs for people with DV using technological advances, not only as a facilitator of the task execution but also as an instrument that provides functional improvements for real day to day tasks.
