Abstract

One of the aims of the project "Safeguarding Pollination Services in a Changing World: theory into practice (SURPASS2)" is to employ Citizen Science to provide large scale data to ecological studies on pollinators. Habitat requirements for different pollinators and landscape effects on populations are still open questions to which CS data may contribute. Answering these questions is essential to conservation of pollinators and maintenance of pollination services. However, data accuracy, reliability in identification, and spatio-temporal biases still refrain the use of CS data in scientific research. Hence, the selected fellow for the postdoctoral fellowship will review available methods for data quality assessment in CS, assess data quality from data gathered from the CS for Pollinators platform, test data accuracy comparing different sampling methods, investigate landscape effects on pollinator populations, and analyze species distribution models.
