Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the development of disciplines dedicated to the relationship between health and spirituality in undergraduate medicine in Brazilian universities focusing on changes or new modalities in the notion of person. For this purpose it is proposed to inquire the context of the emergence of the subjects, the professional trajectory in the theme of the responsible teachers, and finally the receipt of these subjects from the students. I conceive of disciplines as learning processes that have contextual particularities, but which institutionally point to the growing legitimacy of the theme of spirituality in the health field. It is to teach this new medical segment of health care that this research is directed. In so doing, I also advance a better understanding from the social sciences of the uses of the notion of spirituality (AU)
