Abstract

Pig industry must always cherish the interactivity and globalization of its information, and the generated researches should reach the greatest number of farms as possible, so that knowledge is widely disseminated. Genetically superior semen diffusion is facilitated by the use of frozen semen. However, the freezing results obtained from the breeding centers are differents and demonstrate variable boar performances. Several laboratory analyzes aim to understand more clearly the predisposing causes for these results. There is still no definitive protocol for cryopreservation of boar semen and, while research advances on this scenario, in parallel there are molecular studies being developed about micro-RNAs transcribed in spermatozoa, which can regulate gene expression and control much of this process in animal organisms. Micro-RNA can be differentially expressed during spermatogenesis, ejaculation and cryopreservation, but there is still a lack of data to support the understanding of behavior and action of these molecules in pig andrology. In order to contribute to literature data about the regulation of gene expression by micro-RNAs, the present experiment aims to determine the micro-RNA profile in seminal plasma and in raw boar spermatozoa and compare the results with complementary laboratory analysis to classify the different boar with regard to cryotolerance of their spermatozoa. Further understanding of this process may elect the profile of micro-RNAs as a boar congelability biomarker, an important additional tool for genetically diffusing farms. (AU)
