Abstract

The purpose of this project is to conduct Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) to identify genetic factors associated with susceptibility to chronic noncommunicable diseases such as Obesity, Diabetes, Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, and Osteoporosis. For this, 800.000 genetic markers (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms - SNP) will be genotyped in 864 individuals. Statistical analyzes will be performed in R statistical software, with packages such as Bioconductor and SNPassoc, which allow case and control studies considering the phenotypes as discontinuous (dichotomous; having or not the disease) and phenotype analysis as variables (values of blood pressure, anthropometric parameters, bone mineral density and biochemical measurements of blood tests).
