Abstract

This doctorate will consist mainly of two studies. A Cochrane systematic review (which is not directly related to this young researcher application) and the prospective cohort study. The Cochrane systematic review will aim to assess the effectiveness of physical activity and education in the treatment of children and adolescents with chronic musculoskeletal pain. This review will include only randomized controlled studies that assessed children and adolescents with chronic non-specific musculoskeletal pain. The primary outcomes will be intensity of pain and disability. As for the prospective cohort study, it will aim to assess the possible risk factors for disabling musculoskeletal pain in children and adolescents. Children and adolescents who do not report disabling musculoskeletal pain at baseline (study 1 - transversal - project linked to this) will be invited to participate in the cohort study and will be followed up for 2 years, including follow-up assessments of 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months. The proposed activity plan for this doctoral scholarship mainly refers to the execution of this prospective cohort study. (AU)
