Abstract In this project, magnetic materials will be created through in situ synthesis of magnetite nanoparticles (MNP), using polysaccharides (alginate, xanthan, chitosan) matrices or through the incorporation of MNP in the polysaccharide matrices. The mechanical properties of magnetic hydrogels will be evaluated according to the MNP concentration, ionic strength of medium and polysaccharides charge density, in the absence and presence of External Magnetic Field (EMF). The mechanical properties of magnetic hydrogels will be determined on a nanometric nanoscale by means of atomic force microscopy (AFM), in the absence and presence of EMF. The mechanical properties will be correlated with proliferation and differentiation of neuronal cells. The adhesion properties between cells and polysaccharide-coated microspheres (colloidal probes) will be evaluated by means of force measurements in AFM. (AU) | |
