Abstract Human, animal and ecosystem health are interconnected and interdependent, together in One Health. Modify one and the others will get impacted. The current Age we are living in, called Anthropocene, is defined by extensive and accelerated human expansion and its environmental degradation. In regard to the Anthropocene Age and the One health concepts one of the most worrying consequences may be the Emergence/Reemergence of Infectious Diseases (EIDs and ReIDs). Non-human primates are possibly sources for human pathogens. Epidemiological studies in New World primates (NWP) are scarce and can warm future spillover events or zoonosis transmission. Futhermore, the proximity between NWP and large urban centers, as São Paulo city, is relevant for EIDs and ReIDs. The present study aims to survey relevant viruses in world public health - Influenza, Paramyxoviridae, Coronavirus and Bocaparvovirus - in NWP from captivity institutions, free-ranging and maintained as pets from metropolitan area of São Paulo, the biggest in Brazil that is surrounded by native forest areas.
