Abstract

The objective of this study will be to evaluate the effect of the microstructure and the state ofsurface (glazed versus polished after occlusal adjustment simulation) in the fatigue behavior oftwo translucent zirconias. The study hypothesis is that the microstructure, and the state of thesurface, significantly affect the probability of failure of the materials tested. Two differentblocks of translucent zirconias for use in CAD-CAM (Computer-aided design/Computer-aidedmanufacturing) technology will be used in this study; Prettau (Zirkonzahn) and Cercon HT(Dentsply-Sirona). Will be made disc-shaped specimens for each material, all of which willbeglazed and part of the specimens will be adjusted superficially with the use of diamond tips(simulation of occlusal adjustment) and later polished using rubber tips (clinical polishing simulation).Subsequently, the specimens will be subjected to the cyclic fatigue test to lifetimedetermination and failure mode. For the characterization of materials and surface treatmentsadopted will be carried out scanning electron microscopy (SEM), profilometric analysis andanalysis of surface wetting. (AU)
