Abstract

The research aims to search for signs of the regulation of codes of conduct related to the delicate coexistence between Christians and Moors in the century when their presence in the Iberian Peninsula was already residual, the 15th century. In order to understand how, in the context of some Portuguese ecclesiastical provinces, the relationship between the purpose of existence and the conduct of daily life was conceived, the synod constitutions conceived in the dioceses of Lisbon in 1403 and Braga in 1477 will be investigated, since these are composed of a set of rules, laws and statutes resulting from discussions about the ways considered ideal to establish an order within their society, including, even, indications about the care, posture and practices of the "faithful" in the relationships that they established daily with the "infidels". References to virtuous practices will be investigated together with indications about sins, as they are educational tools that, in opposite ways, helped to spread the ideals of conduct approved by the Church at a time when there is no news of great conflicts between Moors and Christians, but in which several restrictions and condemnations to their habits and conduct weighed on the former and served to alert the followers of the bible.
