Abstract

The aim of this project is to obtain the age of six samples of apatite through theFission Track method (MTF). These six samples were collected in the AndesPeruvians, in the Arequipa region located southeast of the city of Lima, Peru. Theresults of these ages will allow studying volcanic activity in the Peruvian Andes andits relation to tectonic activities that occurred between the Nazca and the South American plates. To obtain the age of these samples the External Detector Method will be used. The samples have already been irradiated and muscovite micas have already been chemicallyetched. In each of these samples more than 50 grains will be dated.
