Abstract

Translocations between the X chromosome and autosomes are one of the greatest causes of male infertility in drosophilidae. The reason why this occur may be related with differences on the regulation and the pattern of condensation of these chromosomes so that this translocations place the chromosomes in question under asynchronous control during a important period of spermatogenesis. This project pursuit, through cytogenetic analysis, to explore the differences between the translocations found in 9 lines of Drosophila melanogaster carriers of X-2 translocations, investigating the distinctions among these translocations to obtain information about the sort of the events leading to sterility in the male of the specie.
