Abstract

The recent development of active and passive photonic components has revolutionized spectroscopy techniques, compact sources of light of high coherence, data transmission and even redened the optical computing paradigm. In this proposal we aim to explore the collective and multimodal behavior that appears in optical microcavities as a consequence of nonlinear effects of electronic and mechanical origin. These non-linear processes will be explored for a new generation of nano-photonic devices whose applications range from spectroscopy techniques to the creation of fundamental blocks to solve specialized computing problems - such as generation of genuinely random number sequences and optimization. In this postdoctoral fellowship we aim to investigate several aspects of optical parametric oscillators. On one hand we aim to explore theoretical and experimental aspects of the interaction between Kerr frequency combs and mechanical modes in microcavites, helping PhD and Ms students towards the the goals OFC-1, on the other hand the candidate will help in the development of dual-pumped binary phase states of the goal OFC-2 on the main project. It is strongly desired that the candidate has previous experience with nonlinear optical phenomena. (AU)
