University institutional racism and its consequences in the life of black students

Abstract

In view of the inequalities, vulnerability and racism experienced by the black population and the recognition that their living conditions are the result of the injustice of social, cultural and economic processes present in the country's history, we propose the development of this research project that aims to to analyze how institutional racism at a university can affect the lives of black students. It is a mixed, descriptive, analytical and exploratory study with a quantitative and qualitative approach. It will be developed through the application of an online self-administered questionnaire to university students who have declared themselves black. Quantitative data will be analyzed by descriptive statistics by calculating frequency for categorical variables and mean and standard deviation for continuous variables and qualitative data by thematic categorical analysis. It is expected with the development of this study to highlight the institutional racism suffered by black students within the university environment and to identify possible strategies capable of suppressing it within this training instance.
