Abstract

This research project proposes to investigate the plural phenomenon of memory construction from the imagetic dimension, mobilized by multiple social classes that claimed different elements of the past in order to position themselves in a Rome that was undergoing political reconfigurations: a complex scenario that instigates questions related to memorial clashes, processes of forgetting and structuring of identities. To this end, we will analyze a corpus of material and iconographic sources, dating from the beginning of the triumviral period in Rome to the end of the Principate of Augustus (from 60 BC to 14 AD).
