Abstract

The aim of this research project is to compare implementation processes of two film schools originated in public universities in Latin America. The schools in question were offered by Instituto de Cinematografia of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) in Argentina and by the Universidade de Brasília (UnB) in Brazil, both crucial experiences of university film schools in these respective countries. The aim is to start with a comparative approach in order to analyze the beginnings of cinema's insertion as a higher education subject in Brazil and Argentina. I will also try to reflect upon how these schools' creation and implementation are attached to cinematic culture in Latin America, seeking to understand these experiences in a transnational perspective.
